Data Link Layer: Functions performed by data link layer, Data link Layer design issues Error Control Coding: Error Detection, Two Dimensional Parity Checks, Internet Checksum. Polynomial Codes, Standardized polynomial codes, error detecting capability of a polynomial codes. Linear codes, performance of linear codes, error detection & correction using linear codes. Flow Control: Flow control in loss less and lossy channels using stop-and-wait, sliding window protocols. Performance of protocols used for flow control.
