CONCEPTS AND FUNDAMENTALS OF REMOTE SENSING: Introduction, Energy sources and radiation principles electromagnetic energy, Electromagnetic spectrum, Energy interactions in the aonosphere Energy interaction with earth surface feature, Remote  sensing systems, Spectral reflectance curves, Data acquisition and interpretation, Image characteristics, Multispectra scanning system, reference data. Radar technologies and terrain interactions Global positioning system. introduction of microwave sensing.

  2. EARTH RESOURCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SATELLITES: Introduction to various sensing platforms. SPOT satellite, Ladsa satellite, JERS satellite. Indian Remote Sensing Satellites Geostationary Environmental satellite, Polar orbiting NOAA Environmental satellite, Future satellite systems, Various satellite Radar systems like JERS-l, ERS-l, SIR-A mission. Radar satellite Almaz-l, Seasal.

  3. INTRODUCTION TO VISUAL IMAGE INTERPRETATION:  Introduction and fundamentals of visual image interpretation Introduction to Digital Image processing, Image rectification and restoration, image enhancement Contrast manipulation, Spatia feature manipulation. Multi image manipulation, image classification Supervised and unsupervised classification, merging and GIS integration, Scale effects.

  4. INTRODUCTION TO GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM: Introduction various GIS operation of GIS to water resource, environmental impact assessment and urban & regional planning.
